iight, i can beat mustang GTs, camaros, and the shit like that with ease(im an ok driver) and i was wondering if i should step it up and go after more competition, like say a newer (late 90"s) Corvette, i know they make different version and all but do u guys think i can take the lower priced corvette?

do you beat LS1 camaros? or LT1? becuase there's a huge diff....if you can beat an LS1 i'd say step it up to the LS1 Vette then...good luck!

i think that would be a very good race, i am not real sure. but there is a big diffrence between rustangs comarhoes and a corvette.

yeah ls, and yeah ur right, there is a big difference, my friend has a 95 trans am with an LT and i could beat him NA, and the LS1 could beat me by about 4 cars in the quarter, but since i got FI i beat them by almost a full second in quarter (my best 1/4 mile time is 12.70's)

you should be able to beat a stock LS1 camaro but you would have to have a perfect run...like your 12.7 run to beat a vette....but i think they're in your range...

Hey r any of you guys from Tampa? If so did you see or hear about the races on Saturday night? There was a Killer Whit Integra (1990) just straight up kickin ass yo! A red Turbo B18 was the first one he raced and beat by like 2 cars of the line, but the Red one spun tires all the way through 3rd, then a claimed 380whp Hatch fell victim before the cops broke it up, the was also a 7MGTE powered toyota truck which ripped an SRT4's A853's a new exhaust hole..holla back LONG LIVE THE TEGGY

You know you drive a honda when an engine swap and a turbo will only get you 270hp.
A friend has a similar setup, making around 283fwhp. I think you should forget vettes. Bolt on LS1's can take him. You may not weight much(your car), but you only make 270hp. Once you get to the higher mph, where weight seems to mean less(funnily enough, at lower mph, the vettes will have torque and traction on their side), you will get schooled.
I say you should stop picking on grandpas with stock mustangs. I live in a town which isn't mainstream and doesn't have exotics, but there are still plenty of 400+rwhp N/A mustangs and camaros around and my buddy has his hands full.

Go for a vette if you want. Hell, if there was an LS1 camaro up agianst you with just the base corvette's output, you be up for trouble.

Needless to say, you ran 12.7 on slicks.

I beg to differ, I had a 1996 GSR w/ a 13lb jrsc, not even close to 270whp, and I ran and beat a non-Z-06 1997-200? vette with a Borla cat-back and superchipped. The guy was astonished. I didn't run in the 12's either. People are so funny with their opinions of their cars. I think a non-Z06 will do mid 13's with a good driver, I see them at the track ALL THE TIME doing high 14's, low 15's. Usually 40 something drivers with the full on mid-life crisis kickin! Learn to drive, people!!!

my friends 2003 NON z06 runs low 14's high 13's absolutly stock, but he has been racing for a while, like 15 years. I drove it the same day and my best was a 15.49...even with those meaty tires its hard to keep them from spinning with the traction control off

that's pretty lame, you could only get a vette into the 14's,

Yeah when you're running a T28 turbo and only have it tuned with a VAFC

All I got to say is wow! I see bone stock non-Z06 Vettes run consistant low low 13's all day. They even get 12's ocasionally. And 270whp and only running 12.7 is very sad too. I have 4 friends all running under 12.4's with just 200whp in eg hatchbacks on slicks. This whole thing is lame. If you can launch your car, you should have no problem beating a Vette, and a Z06 at that. I see most Z06's running mid 12's and you should be low 12's to high 11's.

i never drove a vette before, what time did you get your fist time? or have you even driven one??

I haven't but my neihbor takes his Z06 to the track every once in a while. He gets a lot of his friends with Corvettes to go with him. It's pretty cool seeing like 10 Corvettes all on the road together. They are fast cars. When I finish my Civic, I have already agreed to race him for like $100. My cars should run high 12's so if I get a better launch I could beat him if he messes up a little. It should be fun though, especially since he's been watching me put so much time into building my car, and he still thinks I have no chance. Maybe I'll sneak a little nitrous, we'll see.

1993 Civic LX 4-door. It has an LS/Vtec that will make at least 200whp within a month. All suspension including polyurethane bushings, RSR Race Springs, KYB agx shocks, Skunk 2 strut bars, suspension techniques anti-sway bars. It has integra front and rear brakes with drilled and slotted rotors, performance pads and steel braided lines. Fully stripped interior. My roll cage will come in about 2 months. I get my wheels and tires on Teusday, 15 by 6.5 Rota Slipstreams with the new Falken Azenis RT615. It has been my project for a long time now. Time and money have been my enemies as it is with probably everyone.

You could probably take mine. Which is an 84 :P I wouldn't go much higher than that if you wanted to race a corvette. After they stopped producing the cross fire engines the performance numbers started increasing a lot more again. As a general rule of thumb i'd stay away from the c5's and c6's if i were you though. :)
