exhaust manifold

how hard is it to change the driver side exhaust manifold on a 97 explorer v8? can i get to it without taking anything else off or is it going to be alot of work taking many parts off?

I think you can do it without removing anything else. It may be tight coming out, but I think it can be done.

What is wrong with your manifold? My truck sounds like and exhaust leak and I took it to the shop and they think mine needs to be replaced but with out pulling it they cann't tell me exactly what it is the gasket or a cracked manifold.

The exhaust manifold on a 5.0 Exsploder is prone to cracked tubes or welds! They're constructed like headers, but they aren't as tough! Replaceing it will require removal of the steering shaft and posibly loosening of the front accessory bracket.
