vehicle caught in flood, yet after flood vehicle started up halfway home it stalled on me.later i replaced all sparkplugs and vehicle is trying to start but doesn't.i've sprayed starter fluid and everytime it starts then dies,i poured gas in the air filter and it starts but then dies.assessment : it's not getting gas.so that brings me to fuel pump, which is not working.do i have to replace fuel pump or just the wires? i need to know what wires go to the fuel pump and where do they connect under the hood? what is the purpose of the relay and can that b my problem? i checked fuses and they r fine. 1998 chevy venture....thanks 4 everything!!!

Getting a shop manual is probably your best bet. If you can't find/afford that, a Haynes manual is your next best bet. It will tell you what wires are which. My guess is that you don't have voltage getting to the pump. If you look under the car just behind the drivers seat, you will see a connector where the fuel pump and level sensor plug in at. Look for the two heavier wires. I don't remember the colors, I can look it up later. You should be getting 12 volts with the ignition on. If not, go back to the relay and check to make sure it is working properly.
