When im driving normally not gettin on it or anything, right around 45-55 before its going to shift my rpms start jumping back and forth and the exhaust starts making a sputtering noise. Is this something to do with my tranny or some kind of sensor?

What year, model and engine?

Sounds like basic misfire. Have you done a tune up such as spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, etc.?

Do you ever get a SES light? Also try cleaning the MAF sensor.

Yeah, I got new plugs about 3,000 miles ago but no new wires. Other than that no tune ups. How would I go about cleaning my MAF Sensor? Thanks for the help.

The best stuff to clean the MAF sensor wire elements which has an electronic component like a thermistor imbedded is with electrical or electronics contact cleaner. It won't damage it like carb cleaner.

It depends on your mileage but plug wires could be the problem and are cheaper than ignition coil packs or an ignition control module (ICN) which I'd think about next in the process. What brand spark plugs and type did you put in? You could get it odb-ii scanned and see what DTC error codes may pop up, if any.
