Random Limp Home Mode

Our '94 Voyager randomly goes in to limp home mode whether we are just starting it first thing in the morning or have made several short trips. I have tried to see if there are any downloaded codes and cycled the ignition and only get an end code of 5-5, which is the end of the test code.:crying:
Needless to say our shop could not duplicate the condition other than finding a burned hose.
I won't let any funky Dexron III near this thing if my life depends on it.:nono:
The speedometer is still working and that would generally rule out the output sensor, so I suspect the input sensor or the wiring harness could be at the center of the issue.
I'll be taking the Voyager back to the shop since it is under warranty and I'll update this tread to help other owners of this horrible transmission design.:banghead:

The shop stated that they have found four codes, but weren't clear as to all of them. The Teceh told me there was a sensor code, (big suprise there!) and some kind of switch or servo failure.
 I've never heard of this before, but maybe someone out there can help confirm this for me in regards to paying for a diagnosis on a warranty related repair on a parts failure.
If an authorized sublet shop purchases a transmission from a Dodge Dealer and warranty repairs are needed, the customer has to pay for the diagnosis?
That makes no sense to me whatsoever!:screwy: I buy your faulty product and have to pay for diagnosis on a failed warrantied part from Chrysler?
I know that GM service departments will honor the installation of an over the counter purchased automatic transmission for both parts and labor.
If repairs are made due to a warranty concern to the transmission, there is no charge to the customer out of pocket for either the parts or labor, as outlined directly from the GM Policies and Procedures manual, even when the original installation was performed by an authorized sublet shop.
So for Chrysler to be petty is beyond me. Can anyone confirm this? I will be calling the local Dodge Dealer and research it and post the findings.

After calling the shop every day this week and making a guest appearance each day, they finally concluded that both of the speed sensors are out and the van works intermittently.
The guy at the shop told me that the van is currently working, but they neede auth from Chrysler to perform the repairs and were waiting for a callback. He even had the balls to tell me I could take the van and drive it.
I looked at him like he was high and told him, "why? So I can breakdown again and be fustrated all weekend or stuck miles away from my house in limp mode? I don't think so." I drove off.
SO the van is still stuck at the shop and this experience will more than likely end our working relationship. I'm sure they can handle installing speed sensors, otherwise I'd take it to the local Dodge dealer.
Talk about poor service. He's proud of his AAA rating for the past months, well, July isn't gonna be a perfect one then.
Hey, if there are any independant shops reading the forum, Service to the customer should carry through any warranty repairs, just like it was a paying job, since your getting paid anyway.
Don't tell people that you'll call and have the balls to say, "I was just about to call you", when I come popping in your doorway 10 minutes prior to your convienent call. I like showing up at the shop to ensure you aren't on a phantom parts run or put me on hold while you finish up a bag of Cheetos.:nono:
While I'm paying you for service at the rate you ask or the warranty will pay you for the repair, in effect, your working for me and I'm asking for quality service and effort.

There was only a bad input speed sensor and the local Dodge dealer never submitted our warranty paperwork to Chrysler and our mechanic needed authorization prior to making the repair, which was covered under the warranty.
