HP Stainless headers good or bad???

Im puttin stainless headers on my 02 ex and was torn between two brands. DC sports,
or HP. I have had friends with the DC and they are pretty nice, i need to know what your
experiences with the HP headers are. Does anyone have pics of the DC and/or HP headers
installed.

i read good things about their headers.... but i do not know of anyone personally using them

civic 242 has em.. i want one too :D

does anybody have a chart of dc headers so they can be compared to the hp headers. the more i look at the hp headers then i am starting to like the price and the hp gain of them over the dc headers. any other opinions on the hp headers.

Damn thats an awesome price!! I was looking at the DC page and their 4-2-1 SS Headers are about 450! Whats the reason for the HUGE price difference between hp and dc? Also what other brands or headers are good out there?!

hehe yea i'm planning on jumping all over that HP header but other good ones are greddy, comptech and apex'i

If hp are only 173 why would anyone buy anything else? Why would people spend 450 on dc headers when they can get something thats juat as good for a way cheaper price?! :confused:

hehe check out my post in "good headers?" i get the header, plug wires and a lower rear tie bar for a lil more than the price of just the DC :cool:

Ok maybe it's just me, but where on Nopi does it say STAINLESS steel? I see Chrome Steel, but no mention of being stainless. Perhaps that's the cause of the price difference.

If I'm just plain wrong, please excuse me. :D

hmm, good point.. i was goin by civic 242's page.. i could be wrong in that they aren't stainless.. i just got on nopi to see the price, i didn't look closely at the description..

this is what i found on nopionline. it says chrome so that must mean the low price. this means that this will rust even quicker.

just to let people know... chrome does not rust... in fact its less likely to rust that regular steel...
no it it was aluminum... it couldn't rust,....

also ceramic coating can be bad. i've hear stories about cracked dc ceramic headers...
it seemms ceramic parts would have a easier tendency to crack during extreme changes in heat...

which is more prone to cracking..., ceramic pot or steel pot?

and i don't mean:bandit:

so it is best to go with the chrome then. right. for rusting and otherwise cracking purposes.

just to let people know.. chrome is a stronger element that steel, and when chrome is polished has a hard time rusting...

example chrome wheels... when have you seen then all rusted?!!

from my experience, chrome also has a higher tensile strength and higher strength to weight ratio than steel.

REMEMBER: chrome is your friend:rolleyes:

also one more thing. things may tend to rust is the chrome plating chips off.. you will notice it rusting, but due to the steel behind it. as long as do you chip of the chrome plating you should be fine..

bikes that rust are due to their lack of stainless steel, or chrome... usually they are made of cheap steel

I dont really feel like scraping excess shit off of my headers down the road, so i think i will just go with the stainless from DC

or do what riceburning said and get the hp and spend the rest of the money on other stuff.

dc ss is about 350 or more i think.

i have decided to go with some kamikaze chrome header. they produce the most hp then any header. plus they are good for f/i, which i plan on doing in the future.

Do the kamikaze headers have applications for the 02 civics?

they have them at importparts.com and the ceramic are going for about 295. the chrome ones go for like 245. they dont make them for 02 but they do make them for 01.here is a pic of the ones i am planning on.it says it gives 5 more hp then dc header and almost 20 overall.maybe a lie but i have heard they give the most hp for f/i then any other header.

well i guess we should just stick with the dc header now. a 10 hp LOSS!!!!!!!!! wow that must really suck. instead of these i am no going to pay the money for the dc instead just go with the hp chrome header for a very good price.

Excuse me but.... Chrome is not the same as Stainles steel, right? So that means you will have rusty headers in a short period of time and probably will need to replace them.

from what i am reading from everybody else it is cheaper to go with chrome and it is more reliable then ss. do you have an explanation as to why ss is better then chrome.:flipa:

for example a material made of pure 4130 chromloy tubing is better than stainless steel,
however, chrome plated stuff is not as durable as steel...
HP headers ARE chrome plated i think, but either way it will still last.

chrome rims are not usually all chrome but instead are plated for that shiny look

chrome is cheaper to manufacture

whats good about stainless steel? its light, but still weak, you will see stanless steel knives and stuff but never SS rims... got it?

What f/i are you talking about? a sc? cause if ur going turbo, the turbo manifold replaces the header right? :rolleyes:

Yeah the turbo manifold replaces the headers.

chrome rims? more labor (plating costs more money than just casting a cheap aluminum wheel.
