About how much HP do headers kick in?

Depends on what ones around 10, go for the better ones that are ceramic coated and the largest possible tubing you can fit around 3". make sure that you get a good seal cause headers are known to leak.

Depending on your engines state of balance and tune, the specs of the headers and how well the engine and headers are matched, 25 to 100 horsepower IF THE HEADERS ARE RUN UNCORKED

Sorry, hit the "post" button too soon! What I meant to say was UNCORKED (no mufflers or catalytic converter, etc.).

On the street it's quite a bit less, but they do help a bit and sound cool, even through muffflers.

Ceramic headers are great, even reduce underhood temps considerably, considerably lengthening the life of hoses, wires and other components. However most manuyfacturers caution against installing ceramics and other coatings on a BRAND NEW or JUST REBUILT engine. The coatings need a gentle break-in and the typical new-engine drill is perhaps 30 minutes at 2500 rpm, which will damage the coatings.

Only coating I've found that can survive the above situation is TiTec, now the standard finish from Edelbrock.
