00 Cav overheating

Bought car last night from a private seller. While driving it last night, noticed that the low coolant light started blinking. Didn't think to check the coolant before I bought, so I don't know how much antifreeze it started with. Added some this morning, to what I thought was the "full" mark. Let the car sit for 30 minutes with air going, but then noticed that it was overheating again. Drove around, and the coolant light started blinking again. Looked at coolant and saw that it had gotten very low. Added more. Let it sit and it started to cool some, but not to the middle.

What could be the problem, and what should I check first?

Does this car run smooth? If so here is what to do.

Check for leaks, if no leaks it may just still be low.

When the thermostat opens it let the air bubble come through. Take off the cap, start the car, let it warm up(you will see the coolant flow when you look down in the radiator). Fill it up and relpace the cap. Then add some to the overflow tank. Over a few cycles of heat up and cool down it will level out and may shoot some out of the overflow, or you may need to add some more to the overflow if it gets low. Good Luck.

well in a 2000 cavy the only place u can put antifreeze in the reservoir

no cap on radiator, just keep adding until stays on full mark

check for leaks this is imporatnt and also while adding let the cap off

so the trapped air goes outta the system

this cooling systems works good when there is no air in there

cause air doesnt help coolant become vapor and if theres no vapor

coolant have a hard time cooling off on radiator
