Car Trouble

Ok, on thursday my 97 cavi started making a squeeking noise when i accelerate, then on friday on my way to work it started making the same noise, but getting louder every 10 mins or so, then on my way back from work the car started loosing acceleration, and at a stand still the car can be felt shaking. any suggestions on what the problem is....

sounds like a bad belt driven accessory to me. Take the serpentine belt off and spin the pulleys by hand. Any that feel rough or gritty when spun may be the problem. If every thing feels ok with the belt off, try unplugging the alternator's voltage regulator, and start the car. If the car runs ok, except for the battery light being on, you may have a shorted alternator that is dragging when energized.
