overheating

i recently purchased a 87 camaro. the engine in it now came from a truck the previous owner states a 350 chevy anyways it overheats ive replaced radiator, fan and thermostat i know the pump is working because it runs fast when the lid is removed any ideas? i dont know alot about cars so any useful help would be much appreciated

is it an electric fan and it's coming on?
Check your radiator cap as well, if it's not holding pressure, the boilding point is reduced.

make sure the hoses are ok. they may look fine, but if they're old they could be collapsing, restricting flow.
you may also have an ait pocket trapped somewhere in the cooling system

if its air how do i get it out? the fan does come on

"remove your radiator cap and run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. If your radiator neck is the highest point in the cooling system, most air bubbles will find their way out. If it isn't the high point, you may need to jack up the front of the car a little. Otherwise, air will remain trapped in the system."
