Yeah, that's happening to my sister's Eclipse as well. Besides the paint being old, I don't know why it happens....maybe because we washed her car with dish soap back then because we didn't know better. When that happens, it's probably just best to get a new paint job. I hope my car doesn't do that...

I don't believe that can be fixed. 3SX Performance sells replacement garnishes. The other option would be getting new garnishes from a dealer like Rockville Mitsubishi (aka Mitsupartsdirect.com).

Actually, there might be something for it. My jeeps fender flares were starting to fade out, so i looked up something for that, and there was a cream made to refurnish it, and they seem to both be made out of the same thing, so it might work. I'll see if i can find what that stuff is called.

ohhhhh I thought you meant the paint fade....yeah that stuff comes out easy. It's just oxidation, comes out with rubbing compound, go buy a can and get to scrubbin it'll be back to it's original color!

Wax wont do it, you need to get it buffed with compound, and even then it may be too late. The black molding, I would guess is done for. You can buy 'renewing' products...but generally they only bring it back to 'life' for a week tops.

I would post this is hte detailing section under 'cars in general' and ask for some professionals opinions. Just my .02

paint it or replace it. thats all i do to my car. Ive repainted my windsheild wiper arms, front grille. the renewing stuff doesnt work on this type of problem.
