my day racing

I put this up in MR2OC a little while ago as well,
I thought I would stick up some shots of the day racing for anyone who is interested.
The day started early to drive for three hours to get to the track for scrutineering, then we did some driver training (this was my first event), where we had an experienced driver with us. He took me for a few laps in my car showing me the braking points and lines into the corners, then it was my turn (can you here the anticipation in my typing?).
After about four of my first six laps I could feel that the brakes were not performing as well as they had in my first few laps, but were still pulling me down in speed pretty quickly (actually I was really impressed with the strait line braking all day), but when we went into pits after about 6-7 laps of me driving, braking from about 50kph my brakes were almost non existent (had to drive around a supra parked in pits, cause I don’t think the car would have stopped). Every time I went out after this the car stopped great, no more fade at all. My brand new rotors now have a slightly blue/black tinge to them though.
After this we did some dual car sprints where two cars would go out against each other, one warm up lap, and as we would come on to the front strait side by side, the marshals would wave a green flag, and foot to the floor from there for about six laps, unless there was a spill and they would red flag and we would have to come into pits and line up there to go again when they had got the car out of the mud that had gone off.
The little red Fiat in the photos with me was the first guy I lined up against in the rolling starts and we were almost dead even.
Later in the day we did some standing starts (that’s the photo where you can see me lining up with the V8). Actually had him, till third gear
All in all a great day, and I could still drive my car the three hours home at the end of it, even though some people thought I would be taking the bus.

... dont be a dick. He was just telling us about how he was down to the track and went nuts with his car. I was interested to read up on it.

Glad to hear you had a killa time pureadrenalin :) I hope to take one or both of my cars to the track one day.

cheers yaggus, I did have a good time pushing the car. I consider myself quite a sane driver on the streets (even get called nanna when I'm in my corolla), so having some fun on the track was good. I learnt many things that day, like bedding your brake pads in on the street is still not good enough for the track so take it easy when you have got them really hot for the first time. Your whole alloy wheel gets bloody hot :). TRD2000 was there and was complaining that my car is very quiet, and you cant hear it when it goes past the track seating on the front strait. TRD2000 even got to do some marshalling and stop a race :)

Point taken. I was just jealous that some people were having fun and my MR2 was not even starting up.
