Okay listen... I am 14 years old. My aunt has a 1999 Honda Civic which she'll be giving me once i get my restricted license. Now i'm wondering if anyone experienced could give me their opinion on what i should get (brands and price) so i know how much $$$$$ i'm looking at and how hard i need to work to try an afford the parts.
I'm sorry if i sound rude but i just want to know what i should get first.
i don't care if ihave to learn to drive first, i'm working on that. Okay?

nothing learn to drive and get the car first.
wait like 6 months at least before you start messing around.
hell its a civic save up for a real car instead of sinking a ton into a econobox. I learned hard way.

You're 14... go play a Yugioh card game.
Don't worry about what car you think you'll be getting or even considering doing anything to it. Don't be stupid, just be a kid for now. We don't need to hear about you on the evening news how you wrapped your car around a tree 'racing' cause you thought you were hot shit.
Even when you're experianced at just driving normal, and you start playing around and going fast. Things happen way to fast, and definately not advisable for somebody who just got their license.
First time you get spooked while trying to 'race' might be your last. You haven't a clue what you're doing behind the wheel for the first few years.
My first car was an old 1970 Chevy Nova with a fairly potent V8. I was lucky I never got hurt in it, or got caught. A few times driving it I scared the hell out of myself just for the fact that in those rare cases where I had to avoid an incident. I didn't know what to do, but I was lucky and got through them.
At 16, you don't know your limits. You think everybody else is stupid and since you're young with your quick reflexes. It's okay to act like a jackass and weave in and out of traffic.
You're wrong. Play it cool, and you might live long enough to enjoy life behind the wheel.

you know redneck, we should have some type of sticky with near death accidents weve been in, and some of those posts were somone actually past away from street racing. the shit is dangerous, and scary.
i thought i ws the best driver in town my first year of driving, found out later that i sucked(lessons from my dad)
to the poster: fast and the furious is a movie- you dont go copying what you seen on the movie cause it looks cool
just as scarface is a movie, and though it looks cool, you dont go out playing with guns and killing for fun.
tis the same concept
just learn how to drive for a few years first

Kid, do you have ANY driving experence at all?
Did you race Karts?
Did you have a gokart at all (a real one...not one of thoes pansy ones with a 3.5Hp briggs regulated to 20mph).
One reason i have the driving skills i do is because i have had a gokart capebale of 55mph since i was 10. my mom also let me drive her car on empty roads and in my grandparents feilds since i was 13.
a little civic wont do much, even with just the turbo kitso ut for hte D16. but being on top of hte wirld at 16 (like i am now) thinking you are hot shit is bad enough. putting yourself in a car which has a little bit of go to it and you thinking your life is impenatrable and that you have skill...well that is a recepie for disaster.
either way, wait to get a car...paying for insrance while you are 15 and not even geting to drive it is no fun..from experence.

correct me if im wrong, he asked a question which was never answered, but let me be the first to do this, i would go with the suspension first, go with an eibach or skunk 2 lowering 1.3- 2.5", get some rims and rubber..........and also as the rest of the people are saying, drive your car as it is first to get use to it, then once u got some experience behind the wheel then start modifying it......

My feet are itching.......
ITCHING TO HELP ME SHIFT SEVEN TIMES...HAHAHAHAHAHA.............
thats what happens to people when they get ideas and lessons from the wrong people.
Step one......learn how to drive first before you discuss what mods you are wanting ...or even racing.......Step two....... grow up a few more years when you are old enough to pick up chicks. Step three......get some driving EXPERIENCE first before you do step two.
STEP four..........learn the names of the companies first.....it is not nos.

I'm gonna screw everyone up by saying that I got my maxima as my first car, and for a new driver it's a powerful car, and I was screwing around in it a couple months before my license...no accidents, not even a fender bender in nearly 6 years of driving...maybe I just got skills....:-P

Sorry, it's my job to shit all over everyone's parade...it's just that not everyone in the entire universe that comes in here who is 14 and 15 years old asking about cars is gonna die in a fiery, bloody car accident a year later...it's easy to say that street racing is something that the inexperienced should not attempt...but if that's the case, then why are we still all alive? There is no bob bondurant school of street racing, my friend.

That's because I didn't street race as a kid.
I drove the Nova around for a bit, put it up for work. Bought my truck, and drove that slow ass thing around for 2 years.
That's why I'm probably still alive. And with the Z, I would carefully pick and choose who and where and when I played 'street racer'.
I'm very selective.
EDIT: When I did drive the Nova, I didn't race it around much. Mostly cause at the time I was flat broke and it got about 10mpg. So, I had to conserve fuel as much as possible.

yea your right not 100% of people who drive like idiots when they first get a car dies, some are lucky.......... key word, lucky!!!!
even you can agree that the BEST thing to do is learn how to drive well before modding or racing on the street right?

ok ok go to home depot
pick up like eleventy feet of dryer vent tubing, a hack saw, a wrench and sockets, some black spray paint (lots), andsome angle aluminum and some bolts.
Ok then go to walmart and get a cone filter and a muffler
ok now make you a cold air intake, this will give you like 1hp for every foot of dryer vent so make it nice and long, but save some for your exaust because you get 1.5 HP for every foot.
next spray paint rims and hood black, this is weight reduction, it gains you like a quatrilllion MPH
now make your exaust, if yo udo it right you will gain eleventy.5 HP. if not you will only gain eleventy.
now atach angle aluminum to trunk deck lit, now plywood to angle aluminum.
now take shocks out, use the hack saw to cut the springs, lowered for areo dynamics, it also causes toe in for handle perfomance jsut like the race cars.
now you can go eleventy MPH all over da city hommie...
ok that was mean...but im bord as hell and i want my post count to be eleventy trillion ::postwhore::
