hey i got a 96 eclipse gs with a few mods on it and i knoe the eclipse gs with a 420a motor is hella slow even with after markets parts and the only way to get 14's if i get turbo and a rebuilt motor

do u think i should sell this car and use the money to get a civic with a b16a2 swap?

or keep this car?

How much do you plan on getting out of the eclipse what year civic do you want to do the swap in and do understand what your getting yourself into if you go the civic route?

sell it and get a 1g or 2g turbo you would smoke any civic with just a few mods. My friend has a integra gsr with intake, exhaust, cams, cam gears, vtech controller, short shifter, ls trany, stage 3 clutch. I still beat him with the t25

You can probably get somewhere around 4grand(give or take) for your eclipse. You can buy a 1g turbo and still have a few bucks for like a mbc,boost gauge,etc. You also could put a another grand and get like 95-96 turbo dsm. I don't think many people here will ever agree to get the honda. I agree with them too.

Why would you even ask this question in the eclipse/talon/laser forum? You know what people are gonna tell you to do, and I agree with them. If you feel that you really want to get rid of your car, sell it and get a turbo DSM, not some honduh.

If speed is what you desire, then going and getting a honda, putting a lot of money into it in speed mods cuz they are not fast at all stock, would put you right back in your N/T situation. You would be getting smoked by gst/x and tsi's with minor mods all day long, and it would take even more money to get to their level, just to keep up. Start it off right the first time....I'm wishing I did.

(in my opinion) why would mitsubishi build a turbo awd? honds are economy cars and not really ment to be modded up or else they would have made it more powerfull then it is. look a stock eclipse is 210hp stock. way better then a 100 or somthing (i dont know and dont really care). if your looking for cheap go buy an eagle talon turbo awd. it is the exact same car as the eclipse and depending on were you like they are cheaper than eclipse. i have a 1996 ealge talon esi (non turbo) its a 5 speed and it did great (untill the differential case blew up) but the 420a engine is a good engine but its not built for power like the awsome 4g63 that powers the turbo modles. the 4g63 is one of the few production engines that could go up to 400 hp untill you replace the internals. i dont know if civics can do that or not but im sure not. go dsm and wave bye bye to the honduh :grinno:

Well if you want an overall econo car, get a civic. If you have the need for speed or a heavy foot get a turbo dsm.

Get a turbo DSM, it'll smoke most hondas completely out of the water. However, if you MUST be done with DSMs that Civic would be the best way to go. I drove a Del Sol with a b16a2 on Tuesday and it was quick, but couldnt touch a GST/ GSX.

I think you should sell your DSM and use the money to go see a therapist. Ask them why you ever thought that trading your DSM for a Honduh was a good idea. Obviously you like the styling/handling/whatever about your DSM. So sell the neon and stickers, save you pennies and go get a GSX or GST.

Hey I like my 3g thank you. Besides I'd rather have have in another Mits than in a Honduh. My 3g might be as good as a 2g, but i can beat a civic any day, and there i have a signature now

I'd stick with the eclipse. I've driven both a civic and a eclipse. From a non-ILOVEDSM perspective I didn't care for how the civic handled or accelerated. The steering seemed not as responsive (it could have been the one I drove)

I'd take both for a drive. Have someone else drive htem and just judge them on how they drive overall thats the most important part.

Speed is only good when you can control the car well.... (imho)

Honda's are only good after like what..6krpm? it only last til about 9k. All i have to say is WOW. Dsm's can easily go from 3.5krpm (full boost) to redline which i think most likely is around 6-7k rpm. I can hit 16psi by about 2800rpm and go til 5500rpm cause my weak t25 turbo but its good enough to smoke 99.99 percent of all stock honda's out there, maybe even the b18 swaped ones too.

At those base power levels (base Eclipse 2G VS a Civic), I find the Eclipse way more exciting... I don't know how to describe that in so many words, but Civics pass you on the road every 1 minute. 2Gs don't... the "exclusivity" factor is pretty high with the Eclipse.

Getting some rims and suspension done, with halo lights, the car looks way better than any modded Civic out there, IMO. If youre spending all that dough to swap a motor into a civic, might as well turbo the 420A, and ofcourse, needless to say, a 4g63 is better, but its not the only option... stick with the Eclipse man.

An Eclipse is basically a coupe Galant. Like a Solara is a coupe Camry. A Civic would compare to a Mirage or Lancer...so your actually downgrading your pick. If you really want a Honda, get an Accord coupe, but stick with DSMs man, cuz everybody and their momma drive Civics. They're nice cars, but I sure as hell would never give up a DSM for a Civic...2 cents...

Unless you have a ITR or a built motor, your honduh won't rev to nine.....for more than a few seconds before you blow it up. Stock civics redline at like 6.5K I think.

Get a turbo DSM. Hondas are WAY overpriced...JDM K20 can cost 5K!!.....a 2jz twin turbo supra engine with 120 MORE hp than an ITR swap can be found for under 4. Oh, and honduhs are boring because they have NO torque. Now I'm not saying honduhs are shitty cars, but you would be much better off to get a DSM. X-int 1g, maybe nice cond. 2g Talon/Eclipse turbo for 4k. 4k will get you a 95 civic ex...

This comming from a former civic owner....buy a gst/gsx it makes no sense to buy a civic if you are after power...costs too much 2 make em fast, with that same amount of money put in a dsm u can create a monster...2¢
