Project Ferrari 612 Stradale Concept

Veyron
06-30-2005, 09:15 AM
Time to build the companion to my 612 GTC for the ACME NNL in November which has a theme called, "Road and Track". The road car will be a 612 Stradale of my creation....so far the mission is:

Viper SRT-10 Hood, and another set of it's hood vents will be in the side cove behind the front wheel opening.

Front wheel opening will be made a bit smaller and body will be widened a smidge.

The rear 'spoiler' will be raised more like the 360 Stradale.

Front mini spoilers and side skirts may be extended some.

Enzo engine, wheels, steering wheel and seats will be used.

So far the color choice is Azzurro California.

In the pics you see the resizing of the hood etc.

Sweet! Looks like you're off to a good start. Good idea about changing the size of the front wheel opening--the Enzo wheel is kind of drowning as it is.

Another "that's just the way it should have been done" project from you!!!

This hood is already a great improvement to the basic model... I've decided to already sit on the floor the next time I come here... It will hurt less when opening this thread... :d

good god that's a sick idea, I am still sitting on my Porsche 959 with a 911 GT1 hood on it... but looking good.

The Enzo engine block is a few mm's longer than the 612 one but there's plenty of room under the hood. I cut the tranny from the 612 block and glued it to the Enzo block, it doesn't have to be perfect for it is barely visible after the model is completed.

http://infinite1der.org/~dino/612eng1.jpg

The engine mounts had to be relocated so I cut them from the Enzo block and glued them to the chassis. Next I sanded them to fit the 'V' of the block and positioned the block where it needs to be.

http://infinite1der.org/~dino/612eng2.jpg
http://infinite1der.org/~dino/612eng3.jpg

Cut the snorkles from the Enzo and 612 breather intakes and glued the 612 ones to the Enzo breather.

The basic test fit of the new power plant.

Nice work so far! I like the front placed Enzo engine. I hope this one turns out just as outstanding as the GTC. Keep it up!

Continuing with the body work....I cut the hood vents from another Viper hood the grafted them into the side coves, added a strip of styrene inside the front wheel opening to enclose it some, added plastic on the nose in between the head lights because I want to bring all that section to one level and lengthen it a bit. Got the basic rear spoiler shape, alot of shaping to do there.

Great work on making this fairly bland Ferrari into something sporty and cool. Twice! :)

I saw this car in person yesterday, and it's gonna look killer when it's done.

Hey Veyron, you're either going to get your a** sued by Ferrari or hired by their design dept. :) if their in their right minds, it'll be the latter! At least I get to see the WIP (read that as free lesson) on this one ;)
Those side vents are a really nice idea. They make me think a little of the 275 but whadda I know?

Thanks all!

Yeah, the gills are very 275ish...with the little extension of the nose it reminds me of that too.

There is going to be a color change... after seeing Azzurro California in person I was very disappointed....it is an orchid blue chick looking color.

Glad you checked in, I was about to e-mail you. I was looking at the bottle that Wayne has and the type of lighting in his room was discoloring the Azzurro, I had him take it outside and it looked correct.

My bottle looks fine, but it's lighter than what I was wanting, I might order some of the Sebring. Mirabeau is darker than what I wanted.

Working on the front spoiler...decided to connect the two mini spoilers by attaching a solid piece of styrene to the bottom then molding them into the mini's. The hole in the center will be left open.

The 612's have 19" rims on the rear, there aren't any 19" CS BBS rims in 1/24 scale....well SAS has made some but he's all but quit his model business it seems.

The F430 rims look a bit more fresh than those anyway, but I would like to have the 19's to finish my 360SC.

Veyron,

Do you still have the original hood to your 612? Mine was warped and I tried fixing it by placing it in boiling water, but left it in too long (about 10 secs), and now its ruined. I'll pay for the hood and shipping. Let me know on this site or [email protected]. Thanks!

Woah....revived and revised this old project.

It's now painted with Pontiac Lucerne Blue and is a curbside.

Side windows reshaped to smaller.

Got a few more bits painted...still haven't polished body.

Thinking strongly about using these rims instead of BBS....I'll see when I get the BBS.
