ok, heres a good one. my key gets stuck in my ignition unless i mess with the shifter button. i wont turn all they way back to take it out. if i push the shifter button and turn the key it will eventually come out. any suggestions on what to do. i know the problem has to be with the shifter lock, but it worked fine the one day and then after removing the steering column cover, the dash pad, and the guage cluster to install white face guages, it would get stuck. im not sure why its doing this since i never touched the center console. any info will help. its not really hurting anything, just a pain in the butt.

Since the steering column was removed I would think the problem was in the park lock ass. which has a cable running to it from the shifter to the steering column. It is out of adjustment. Try moving the park lock ass. and see if it solves your problem.

i didnt remove the entire steering column, just the plastic covers surrounding it. i needed a little more space to remove the guage cluster and it was hitting the top column cover. i guess i should've just removed the top dash pad, i didnt do that until after i removed the top cover (wasnt thinking). i know i never removed anything under the covers so i wouldnt of thought that i could've moved it out of adj. just my luck tho, i try to do one thing and end up screwing up another :) seems like that happens to me alot. also its a 94 jgc limited 5.2

mine was doing the same, but i just changed my shifter to an aftermarket one and it wasn't adjusted properly. I fixed it though by taking it off and reinstalling it.

I don't believe you can adjust the factory shifter, but I would bet it's in your ignition since you didn't mess with the center console at all. Check to make sure something didn't fall or get lodged in or around it. Let us know if you figure out what the problem is.
