heres how it went, i was driving home today, i got stuck behind some jackass, one of those people that likes to take the current speed limit, and drive 20 UNDER it, so i got behind this guy, decided to pass him, threw it back into second gear (5 speed tranny) and its like the shifter wasnt even connected to the tranny anymore, i stayed right in 4th, and i had to drive it home that way, now i can move my shifter only back and forth, i cannot move it side to side, by side to side i mean like i would shift into 1st, 2nd, 5th, and reverse, its stuck in the middle, i can pull it all the way back like it would be in forth, but i cant push it all the up to the 3rd position, and no matter what position i have the shifter in, the tranny stays in forth, the only neutral i have is pressing in on the clutch, i thought for a second the entire shifter came disconnected (if thats even possible) but if that was the case i should be able to move it side to side and every which way, right?? this is a topic i know NOTHING about so any ideas would be awesome, thanks

I think it has something to do with pretty much every cavi tranny of the m/t persuasion. Pretty much every member of the AZJBO that has done any kind of hard down shifting (mostly under race conditions) has fried their clutch.

If memory serves me we are up to 21 burnt clutches from down shifting in the club. :lol2:

i dont think its the clutch, the clutch grabs awesome, i can still drive it, i just have to take off in 4th, when i do go to take on in 4th though, i dont feel any slipping from the clutch, you wouldnt be able to take off in 4th if the clutch was bad would you???

i took it to a transmission place and described the problem to them, they thought it would be something with the linkage, or a fork being stuck, turns out it was a broken shift cable $159 for the cable set and $100 for the labor

ripoff -.-

*side note*
at least it wasnt the tranny, or something expensive. everyone here knows 200 bucks for a repair on a car is cheap lol

yeah, i kinda thought it was a ripoff too but oh well, i have a good job and make good money and dont have alot of bills so i dont really care, i'd much rather pay $300 then try to do that shit by myself on a 95 degree day
