Raising a Lowered Car?

I have a 1997 Honda Civic HX. I just bought it a while ago and there were a few modifications to it. One of them is that it is lowered. It rides really smooth, but i wish it were higher off the ground. I dont know much about this car, so i asked a friend about it. He said we could probly raise it, but when he looked under the car, he said we couldnt because of something about there being a suspension upgrade or there where certian springs or shocks or something that would prevent me from raising it. As you can tell I dont know exactly what the problem is, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this thing up off the ground?

sounds like it has lowering springs and possibly upgraded struts. To raise it your best off using stock springs www.hondaautomotiveparts.com you can use the current struts if they are good or repalce them.

I live in Ohio, and in the winter we sometimes get a lot of snow, since my civic is lowered about an inch, is it gonna plow the snow and make it impossible to drive, or is it cool to leave it lowered.

if your car is on lowred springs you cant adjust the height i belive. If you want to be able to adjust the height as you feel fit, buy some coil overs. at least i belive they are adjustable, im not to suspenstion savy.

on trucks they change the body mounts to hockey pucks for a "body lift" that's pretty hard to do on a car without a full frame.

1 inch isn't that bad...unless your already have experienced plowing into snow...I think you'll be fine...
