Im looking into buying a 97 F-150 with 100k on it. It looks like a fairly decent truck but I have a few questions for the long run.
1. What kind of gas mileage in a V6?
2. Will the truck last me?
3. Can I fit a sub behind the seats in a regular cab?
4. Rate the truck from 1-10. (10 being the best)
5. Any further comments on it

before you buy it, make sure the intake manifold gaskets have been replaced.... these motors are notorious for hydrolocking. Other than that, you will find alot of people satisfied with this truck. I have a 97 XLT 4X4 w/4.2L and I love it.

I thought it was the timing cover gasket that filled your oil with antifreeze on the 4.2's.

What I found out when I bought my 97 is that it was well worth it, mines not the 4.2, its the 5.4 I hope u can fit a sub behind ur ext cab, i fit 2 10's in my single cab. Gas mileage, umm i dunno i get 18.5 Hwy and 12.3 street, so I dunno about a 6. I do know my buddy who has a dodge magnum 6 hates it, but that could be because its a dodge. As long as u take care of the truck it will last, mine has 108+ and i change the oil regularly, wash the engine w/ soap and water and even armoral the block, so yeah it all depends on how u treat it. Id give it a 6 to 7. Plus u cant go wrong with a ford.
