The engine I have, decided to throw a control arm through the block. Anyway, I'm looking to go ahead and do some performance mods while I'm rebuilding. I need to know where I can find a good crate engine or at least the block. From the advice of scottsee and some of my friends I'm going to put my compression around 8.5 so I can run 18 psi. Any recommendations would be nice.

Do you mean connecting rod?

well i would buy a used block since your rebuilding it anyways. no need to spend all the money on a crate motor and rebuild it. just go with well proven brands. i wouldnt ventuire out to far into ebay either for parts when your rebuilding a motor.

A crate motor of what? A 420A block is the best you're putting in that engine bay, but you can build the motor for turbo if you like. Don't assume you'll run any psi... that comes later. Personally I'd take the opportunity to get a nice GST/GSX.

Yes, sorry, I don't know what I was thinking.
Personally I'd take the opportunity to get a nice GST/GSX.
I didn't pay for this car and selling it would only get me about $300. Did you read my sig. I wasn't kidding. My car is in rough condition. I got it from a friend that was tired of putting money into upkeep. He threw the control arm through the block and said that was the last straw and signed the pink slip over to me. I pulled the motor and nothing from the bottom end is reusable. The head might be OK but I need to have it dye tested first. The paint job :screwy: I don't know what the guy that painted it was thinking. It's the worst $200 paint job I've ever seen. They painted the poor thing canary yellow. I don't have a problem with yellow but when you can still find patches of the original color (green) around the door jambs the wing and the windows, something isn't right. It was missing the front bumper (blitz copycat body kit) and the back one was in rough enough condition that I took it off and threw it away. I figured while its apart and in such dire need of an overhaul then I would go all out. That's why I'm looking at doing the reverse lambo door conversion and squeezing as much whp out of a 420A as i can. That doesn't even include the fact that if i even considered doing a swap that i would have to get rid of a perfectly good tranny and clutch and then find a new one for the 4g63. I think my plate is full enough thanks.

Do you know where I can find a cheap used block because all of the places I've found are really pricy.

I don't trust ebay enough to put it on my car.
