Have you ever......

Left a body unpainted?.

The reason I ask is that I am starting a kit soon, the finished product is white, and the body is moulded white, and it looks pretty good as is.

I am in two minds what to do, repaint it white just because it may be "the done thing" , or leave it unpainted to speed the process up?.

What do you think?

I'm afraid the outcome will be kind of "plastic feel". Just my 2 cents.

Sure I did, I didn't paint the bodies before, but this is kind of tricky, somehow the decals (with time) get the carrier film dirty (dust eats them and plastic is clean). It could be resolved by spraying clear over the top, but that is also tricky because sometimes clear on bare plastic leaves strange marks. I would go for paint no matter what, if body is that good there should be no problem.

I did a GT90 from Ertl that way when it was new. The white was so white there was no way any paint I had would be that bright. Besides, I could always paint it later if I changed my mind...
Polished it with Blue Magic. It does have a slight translucent look to it like any plastic, but in this case it was dense enough to come out as a keeper.
Usually I paint everything, the only exception is when the real part is supposed to look like plastic, (and it's molded in the right color), like on dirt bike fenders... - Mark

Nooo! Never. Granted, you can get it to look smooth and shiney, but to my eye, it will always look like a plastic toy.

It's obviously a matter of personal choice, so you have to decide for yourself, will the waxy plastic look bother you or not. It always would for me....
