Reverse Gauge Install?

Sup guys,

Did a search on this but didnt get any positive results. I recently purchased reverse indiglos and I have a simple question, where do you connect the red wire? I understand the black is ground, that's pretty simple, what about the other one? I believe I read somewhere that I can tap into the dimmer switch but im thinking if I want to dim the light the gauges will dim also. Can anyone give me some feedback.

Thanks

If there are only two wires, and one is ground, it's a good bet the other is for power. Tap it into any 12v source you like. The dimmer switch works. I had a hard time with the dimmer since there isn't much room or wire to work with. For a simpler installation, I've also read you can also wrap the wire around a fuse. Do a little searching online to verify all this-- I'm writing as I recall from my boost gauge debacle six months ago. Also see vfaq and plymouthlaser, both have boost gauge install instructions. Obviously you'd only need to refer to the electrical side of gauge install; I don't see how the two would be any different.

for a simple method just wrap the red wire(s) around your headlight fuse and then install some sort of inline power regulator(aka dimmer) so then you can control the amount of light,

Or, buy a bunch of 3M clips( really easy and fun to use) and hook it up to your ignition wire by running an longer wire out of it, thats what I did with my gauges. Took a long ass time but it was all worth it.

Check out VFAQ they have something on it, it should not be an ignition power source because they will burn out sooner.

If you have your own dimmer switch for it then all you need to do is track down where the +12V wire for your parking light runs. You want to attach it after the switch. To test this use a 12v line tester available at most auto stores, turn your park lights on find the associated wire and test for +12v. If you find it then test to see if it is before or after the switch by turning your park lights off. If your test light goes out then your good to go. If not then you need to find where the wire is after the switch. If i'm correct your looking for a green wire with a white stripe. I'll post more about wire color codes later today and give you some more specifics. If you don't have a dimmer that was supplied with the gauges then you can use the normal dimmer or just install them like I said before and leave them bright. It's all about preference.

It came with a dimmer but I prefer for them to just go on whenever I throw on the fog or headlights. You Fiberglass you stated, "If i'm correct your looking for a green wire with a white stripe" Where exactly is this wire located?

I dont have a 12volt meter, can anyone tell me what color wire I can connect it to and where is it located?

Thanks

I think they will turn on with your lights, like they do now.

I dont know if they will dim with your factory switch.

Like I said, I'm not real sure. You will have to test the wire to find out. You could also email Vince and He could probable answer your questions. (Thats his cardomain page)

Dont your fog lights only work when the low beams are on? At least thats how mine are.

If you tap into that wire, the gauges will come on when the headlights come on. So, after the 2nd twist of the column switch, the guages will come on. I used Vinces guide when i installed my own guages. It's definitely the best route to go to install them IMO.
