Hi! I have a 2001 Kia Optima. It only has 35000 miles. Yesterday, I stopped at a gas station to fill up, and immediately after leaving the station, my check engine light came on, and the car started vibrating. I went to Autozone and had the codes pulled and there was a P045 (may have been from a prior time my gas cap was loose) and P301. I put some dry gas and fuel injector cleaner in it and have driven 70 miles with no change to the symptoms. The car vibrates really bad when in gear and idling, and also upon acceleration. It vibrates all the time, but this is when it is worse. It also smells really foul (the exhaust). Any ideas on what this could be??

sounds like one has really nothing to do with getting gas. po301 is a missfire on cylinder number 1 which even thou it could be caused by bad fuel it sounds like is more of a bad plug wire. your local dealer should warranty the wires and if a v6 they'll warranty plugs too. regardless you should just have them check it for you since youre still under warranty

It's the ORVR valve. When refueling it is used to prevent fuel from contaminating the EVAP system. However with the current design they are somewhat prone to getting fuel into them. That's why it isn't good to top off the car. Kia has since redesigned the ORVR valve and would upgrade your car with the new component. Since you were the original owner they will likely do the replacement for free. Contact your local dealer.

My gf got a CEL once directly after re feuling, I don't remember the car vibrating but when the tank got to half full it went away, never returned. have you reached half a tank yet?
