89 Olds Royal AC by pass?

My kids 89 Olds V6 3.8 The AC pump is making a bad sound and It some times stops turning at all,burning the belt up.Is there a smaller belt I could put on that by passes the AC pump all together?The Ac never worked since she had it anywaus. .

You can replace the belt with a smaller one. Just go to your parts store and ask for a belt for the car without ac. The routing pattern under the hood should show you how to route the belt both with and without ac.
