Thinking of getting an alarm

Hello, I am not sure if this is the right section for this post. Maybe the forum should have a theft-deterrent section.
I am thinking of getting a car alarm but I know almost nothing about them so I'm asking here. I want only a very basic setup where the alarm goes off if someone opens the door without disarming it with the remote first. I don't need any of those extra features like a remote starter.
Some things are confusing me though. First, many alarm systems come with a remote door lock. My car has manual door locks, so what does this mean? Will this alarm still work with my car, or will I have to buy and install those motors which lock/unlock doors?
Also how difficult is it to install an alarm, I mean the most basic type of alarm that just goes off if the door opens? Is there simply some port I plug the alarm into, or is there cutting and joining of wires involved? I notice there are two thick wires (black and yellow) underneath my steering wheel, and also some type of hub which looks like it should have things plug into it.

In case anyone cares I went to Future Shop and had them install an alarm. It costed me $200. No power door locks or any other options, just a basic deal with shock sensor and starter kill. I'm pretty happy.
