I have a cracked lense on my driver side headlamp and I need to replace the whole unit. Problem is I can't figure out how to remove the botom fasteners.

I have the replacement unit & I can see where they are, but as far as I can figure, I need to remove the bumper to get to them.

I'm hoping that I'm wrong there & I seek the knowledge of the forum for help.

How do I remove & replace the left side headlamp assembly on a 1997 Ford Escort LX (not coupe or ZX2)

TIA.

Yeah. The front bumper cover has to come off to get to the bottom fasteners. It's not too hard to get it pulled. Where the hood meets the grill there are 3 screws that need to go. On the bottom, opposite the license plate area there are 4 nuts or bolts that need to go. I can't remember which. The last part is a little bit trickier. The inner fender well has to come off in the front. It helps to block it with a piece of wood before you go any further. Where the bumper cover meets the fender just inside the wheel well there is a single bolt up and down that has to come out. Then, just below the marker light there is a straight line about 3 inches long where the bumper cover meets the fender in front. There's two 14mm bolts going perpendicular through the 3 inch line on the inside. You'll need a ratchet with a 10 inch extension and a 14mm socket to get to it. It's not a big job. Good luck.
