Are any of these kits good? I want something that has decent detail to it, I have heard most of the rsx kits lack detail.

Only Fujimi has the RSX released in a fewdifferent versions and yes they are lack of detail. I am disappointed with the shape of the body. Fujimi did not catch the detail of the car and it just doesn't look right, especially the rear part of the car.... THe last thing is that the wheels come with it is too small..

Tower Hobbies has the plastic RSX as 'order pending', and the die-cast bodied car is in stock.

The Fujimi kit is very regular Fujimi fair. A far from stellar kit that is a reasonable jumping off point if you want to make a model of the car. It will look ok from the box but some careful detailing can make it look pretty good. I agree, the proportions are a little off, though I found it to be the case more in the front than the back. Looking at drawings, it looks right, but I think they aren't as good as companies like Tamiya for fudging dimensions for effect. The Revell kit isn't out yet in plastic, and to be honest I've not been happy with the proportions of their tuner cars, either. They all seem a little too long or too narrow or something, and just don't really look right. I guess you have to pick your poison here, as nothing is going to be 100% spot on right from the box.

I am waiting for the Revell RSX-S to come out :)

I hope they have engine detail also:)

I bet it's the same engine in the Integra and two Civic kits. Those are pretty nice kits, not Tamiya quality but they come together pretty well.

Just gotta do something about those wheels and tires....

Why would you bet that?

i would hope not, as the RSX was equipped with a K series motor. if it is the case, then the accuracy will be shot to H right there. but that would be revell for you, to cut a corner. but given the quality i've seen on the board of the new vette and viper kits, i would not imagine so.

I'm sure Revell's gonna put the correct motor in it, I can't see why they won't, even to cut corners, THe Diecast RSX is full detail so if someone has one of those if they can tell us what engine is in the kit.

I shoulda got the diecast rsx. But is has all these crappy decals ond body kit on it..ewww..So I passed. The wrx diecast has an engine. So I assume the rsx does. There is also a maisto 1.24 scale rsx if you are interested. Hasbro/Takara is also releasing an rsx transformer. Good luck on your kit.

Yes, the diecast RSX has an engine, and, far as I'm concerned, a decent body as well - the rocker panels and extended front fascia are probably what distort its proportions. I'd still say it's a damn sight better than the Fujimi kit, as is its suspension and especially its interior detail, what with the separate door panels and all. The wheels fill out the wells better too, although their style and color is a matter of taste; at least the tires are improved somewhat over what we've seen in previous tuner kits. For half the price, the Revell kit is a better all-around proposition - IF you can deal with 1/25th scale.

If anyone has compared Revell's plastic Eclipse and '93 Civics with the diecasts that spawned them, he should know what to expect with the plastic kit - probably an additional body kit option or two, all plastic (except for axles, screws, and exhaust tips), and no prepainting.

As for the engines, I'm not as up on the subtleties of K-series engines as I am on others, but I can verify for you if the master patterns are shared with the earlier Civics - though I can't imagine why they'd do that.

Really hope Revell does an all-plastic Subie, too...

Maisto's RSX does no justice! The whole engine bay area is molded in one piece! So are the seats! :( With lots of surgery the engine could be used on another car, ahem...like a Civic:)

if u need an idea what the fujimi rsx looks like,
here's my thread on it http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=424980

Haven't put the engine tree side-by-side with one from a Civic yet, but Revell's cam cover and exhaust shield give the impression of distinct tooling for the RSX.

They seem to match the Maisto picture on the last page, but with more separate parts of course.
