SO, i went for a drive....priced around for window tint, etc.. (175 bucks @ the local well-respected joint) went lookin for an alarm, 190 bucks installed for a basic one @ CC...while @ CC, i checked out the open box buys case (as i do every time, sometimes you find some good deals there!) so i see a nice JVC headunit there..i ask dan how much it was (no price, dan is a kid i kinda know from school, i know his brother) he pulls it out, looks up the price, 109 bucks! i was like "wow" as was dan, and everyone else... they are like "damn, who marked that one down?!" i immediatly said "ill take it." apparently its a 179-200 dollar CD deck (according to them) he hooked me up on the warranty too, gave me the 65 dollar 4 yr warranty for 30 bucks! its so slick, comes with a nice remote, colourful face, very very functional, and the sound quality is second to none! i REALLY like JVC headunits. mine is the KD-SX770, its in brand new shape (wires werent even cut) definatly a steal, im really happy with it.
i also decided to go with a do-it-yourself alarm system....i saw a nice one @ AutoZone for 50 bucks, 8 stage shock sensor, like, 8-10 alarm sounds, etc..i dont have power_anything, so i figured why not, cause its basically everything i need anyway, and cheaper than getting it installed @ CC for 190 bucks, which would include things i dont have/cant use anyway...so i bought this one, and installed it today (by installed it, i mean had my dad install it for me) after adjusting the sensitivity (just push a couple buttons on the remote) and the sound (same process) it works great! the lights flash when you arm/disarm it, etc. etc. i love it! on the other hand, this is all tapping into my suspension fund!! but "its all good" this was necessary stuff :D
as for my old CD deck, im giving it to my friend alicia, her mom gave her her old car (she got an '02 LX, gave alicia the '97 LX) she (mom) also supplied a CD deck to replace the stock radio.. she brought it up to syracuse (school) and some fucker broke her window and stole the CD deck! so imma give her my old one.
i took some pictures of the headunit last night, but ofcourse, digital camera is being a bitch (the memory card is fucked up, i think i formatted it wrong, i can see the pictures on the camera, but not on the computer..the card reader wont detect them) so when that is fixed, i'll get some pictures up.
oh, and to further tap into the suspension fund, im getting another computer! found a slick deal on a mac..im going crazy not having my mac to use, so rock n roll to that. thankfully im getting a nice tax return, so if nothing else, suspension will wait another week till i get that in the bank.
on that note...still looking for suggestions on shocks....i know koni yellows are supposed to be good.. but they are 500 bucks..
whats a good, cheaper alternative? i was thinking tokico illuminas. i hear tokico blues are cheap, but not much better than stock... any suggestions?

How low have you dropped your car? Do you have plans for auto x, drag strip, or just a daily driver?

havent dropped it yet, still researching. i dont buy things on a whim (usually, the CD deck and alarm were kinda on-the-spot, but i always liked JVC, and it was 109 bucks...so knew i couldnt go wrong)
im wondering if i might just get some tokico blues..but i dont want to spend 250 bucks on shocks that ill have to replace in 2 months. i'd rather spend a bit more on something that will last..
as for coilovers, its basically a toss up between skunk2, and groundcontrol, simply because they would cost about the same shipped. ive heard nothing but good about GC, not sure about skunk2, for some reason i remember someone saying skunk2s are excessively bouncy..but i could be wrong. the drop is basically cosmetic for me, i love the look of a lowered 5th gen hatch..even on stock steel wheels. eventually i'd like to try an autoX, but the only person i know around here that goes to them moved to florida, so i doubt i'd be going myself, but who knows.. it looks like fun. we'll see ;)
pictures soon, not sure whats up with the camera....gotta try formatting it again :/
the headunit fits a LOT better than the old one.. the old one didnt slide all the way back...prolly just cause of all the wires and shit, but i fixed that, fits prrrrfect. its dope! sooo stoked. i dont know what im more stoked about tho, the new hu + alarm, or the apple computer ;) i can *finally* stop using this windows crap, and have something stable, functional, and pleasing to the eyes. oh, and pure RISC processing power. to hell with x86. 32 bit trash! no matter, i can now dedicate this winbox to nothing but games, do important things on the mac. (no, im not biased, i actually didnt get a mac until like, 5+ years into my computing history....got one, and was in love ever since.) blah, ill shut up...this isnt the nerd board. :D

suckered? i wanted it. i ALWAYS get warranties @ CC, you'd be an idiot not to. so far, ive blown 2 sets of infinity speakers, and a 760w sony amp, returned the amp, got a brand new one. no questions asked. blew one set of speakers, (hooked em up to a bad amp i guess) they blew.....brought em in, no box, no receipt, none of the other things that come in the box (mounting screws, grille plates, etc.) no nothing but the speaker itself, they handed me a brand new set, in the box. brought that set home, hooked it up to the same amp, (i thought it was the fact that a washer got stuck on the magnet, and was bridging things that shouldnt have been) turns out it was the amp for sure, so, i brought this pair back the next day, bewm - brand new speakers. so, if you consider spending 50 bucks (the total warrantly of the speakers + the amp) over the summer, to save myself from spending over 300 in the long run (hundered bux per set of speakers, the amp was ~179) then yes, i sure am a sucker - and proud of it.
the model number is in the original post, read better.

its running ten right now (thank you for not saying "X") which ill probably tinker with a little bit, my experience with 10 was limited to the time i had a powerbook pismo that actaully worked. ('bout a week.)
its got the stock videocard tho, which will drag ass a big with the rendering on OS10, so ill probably stay in OS9 for the majority of the time, till i stick a voodoo3 or something in it.....the G3 upgrade in it is a carrier card, so i can upgrade the zif processor to a G4 if needed (which will help with OS10 also, being that OS10 is altivec enhanced)
- you like macs?
