How much rust or rot on a frame is too much?. I'd like a reply soon so i know whether or not to buy a 72 chevelle.

check the floors and fenders first. rip the carpet up and stab the floor with a screw driver. If you punch through in several places the car is junk.

I think the question was about the frame. Floor pans and fenders can be replaced. If you want the car badly enough, dont mind putting some work into it and the price is right, then dont let that hold you back. In my opinion a frame would have to be severly rusted to make it bad. As in hole in it that arn't supposed to be there. If not then sandblast it and apply POR15.

It takes a lot to rust through a frame. So if you question that you need to take a serious look at the rest of the car. DOH
