2004 A/C System - Need Some Thoughts

I can not figure out my current A/C problem.

Essentially it is not cooling. I figure that is a common observation ...

Here are the details though ...

The temperature of the air coming from the center vents will reach 45°F when the fan is low. The temperature of the air on the passenger side vents over the glove box is at least 20°F warmer. The system has both driver and passenger temperature controls with the IR sensor. If I crank the fan speed higher the exit temperture quickly approximates ambient temperatures of about 90°F on a moderate day summer day.

As a side note... at the end of last summer, I remember hearing a small motor activating under the dash after I turned the ignition off. I do not know if it was some type of small servo for controlling the dual zone temperature settings, but I never hear the motor now. Also, last year I heard a gurgling noise from under the dashboard, but could not find condensation drip tube to check for a plugged tube.

The clutch on the A/C pump engages when I turn the A/C switch on after the engine is running.

If I shut off the passenger side vents, keep the fan on low, sit on an ice pack, and spray my face with water, I can convince myself that I do not need a mechanic or a better A/C system. Since I can not do all of those things with the wife soaking my seats with buckets of sweat in the passenger seat, I need some help.

Any thoughts?

Took three trips to convince dealership to resolve...
