turn signal broken off

My turn signal broke off of the steering column leaving a broken metal tip inside. I ordered the new part...it activates the blinker, wipers and mist. Anyway, it looks like it should fit right in and click into place. My only problem is that metal tip stuck in there. Is there anyway to get it out? Or do I have to take the whole damn thing apart. Please Help.

I don't know about your Wrangler specifically, but on cars that I've done, the only taking apart you've got to do is to remove the plastic shroud around the steering column. Then you should be able to get to the unit. There will likely be a screw or release mechanism, you should be able to get out the remnants of the old unit pretty easily.
