B&G lowering springs

Hi everyone. I've just bought my first Supra, a 1987 non-turbo (without TEMS) in superb condition (my dad sold it to me).
I was thinking about getting a set of B+G lowering springs to start with. Does anyone know if these springs are any good? Must I change the shocks at the same time or will it drive OK with the old shocks? (they're actually not so old). I'm not looking for anything too stiff, this is a daily driver and I prefer comfort over a sporty ride. But I care about looks, and that 1.6-inch drop (35mm drop) sounds good to me!
Also I live in Europe and over here for some reason those springs (which I believe are USA made) are a lot cheaper than in the USA (here they cost about $150).
One more thing: I've never replaced springs. Is this something I can do myself (with the service manual) or is this a real pain and do I need to go to a shop?
Many thanks in advance for your replies!
