my 96 s/10 transmission will not shift gears have done put 3 automatic transmissions in it same problem?

It's an electronic transmission, so it's probably somewhere in the electronics.
I would check the wiring first, and then check the modual. I don't have a book for your truck, so you'll have to look up the location and how to test it.
The autowreck can probably help you out with the parts and tell you where it is. They might loan you one for a test
