2004 V6 noisy at 5500 rpm

On steady acceleration, my Malibu has a whistling under the hood; side passenger when i reach 5500 rpm.

I suspect that you need a trannie fix, as do I. A select few '04s do. Post your build date and last 6 digits of the VIN (found on the driver door sticker), and "e2" will hopefully chime in with more details. I don't have the problem with the "L"; there is a TSB on certain '04 trannies ("julian" date range; needlessly complicated). My problem is the incessant whine at certain RPMs, which my dealer has sent a tech to learn all about. I'm not gonna have it done until Aug; when the next oil change will be due. It's VERY annoying. They need to take the trannie apart, so make sure your dealer is aware of the fix before you do anything. :rolleyes:
