i have a 92 olds eighty eight royalle 77k miles and the tranny slips now even if im on a slight hill i can hit hte gas and it will just stay still and rev and then afteer a few trys i feel it catch and go again
and today it happened about 6 times does this mean i need a new transmission? or just a fluid and filter change.

make sure the fluid is at the right level - check it with the engine and trans at operating temperature on a level surface - engine running. changing trans fluid and filter can never hurt, however your problem could be a worn piston seal in one of the clutch packs or just worn out clutch friction material. check the fluid level and go from there.
