Need some more info to help you out; are all the plugs on the driver side fouling (1, 3, and 5), or just two adjacent cylinders?

Might want to consider doing a compression test; could have blown a head gasket.

Do you have funny-colored exhaust smoke? White or Blue?

If it's white, take off the radiator cap (engine cold) and starting the motor. Look in the radiator as it warms up to see if there are any bubbles in the coolant. If so, probably a blown head gasket (or for that matter, a cracked / warped head).

If it's blue, a simple thing to check is to drive up a hill and coast down the other side, if you have blue smoke on the way up, it's most likely rings. If you have blue smoke on the way down, probably valve seals.

Either way, start with a compression test; you can rent a tester at Autozone for free, I think. Not the answer you're looking for, but you gotta start somewhere!

Do you have a Vin W engine?

Also, code 44 doesn't mean your O2 sensor is bad. It means it is doing its job and sensing a problem.

Not all O2 sensor codes mean a bad sensor.
