I'm guessing, that since you say you were told it threw a bearing and messed up the water pump it was a cam bearing. And when that happened it must have thrown the timing so far off that it somehow screwed up your water pump and...i'm guessing the detonation from the timing being off might have cause you to throw a rod... Just a guess cause i dont really understand what you wrote. But if that is the case i would just get a new engine and not try to fix that mess.

to even get off on the right foot we need to know the year, make and model of your car. FWD? AWD? GS-T? GS? RS?

A little more detail, do you have the history on everything that's been done to the engine? Is it a turbo or non turbo engine? I'm new to DSM's but it seems like a good enough deal to me.

No i dont have the history, its non turbo. i know the guy whose working on my car though he always fixes everything that happens to it and hes giving me a three month warranty on the motor. i know thats not a lonf time but i guess it will give me time to get my boys to look at it and see if he did a good job and if everything is ok. although i do trust this people cuz like i said they always do all the work on my car but thanx newayz its nice to know that someone else thinks this is not a bad idea

well ,that price dose seems about right with all the labor and the motor....i would go for it , if you care nothing about the preformance then what do you have to loose....

I would get it looked at again if the guy sounds like he doesn't know his shit before checking into a new engine...

why don't you just save your money a little bit more and buy a turbo eclipse. it might be inconvenient right now not having a car, but when you get that gst/x it would all be worth it. trust.

Ignore this guy. Spend the $1,300 and have a car that will run and have a lot of life left. She's not interested in owning a fast ass car, she wants something that will start every morning and be reliable. Leave the turbo cars for those who will put them to use.

i wouldn't say that right off the bat. obviously if it threw a rod, she'll need a motor anyways whether or not the guy said it had anything to do with the water pump or not.
