92 Lumina 3.1 help

Hello all,

I have a 1992 Lumina that has started giving me some grief. The speedometer bounces all over the place when running, and only occassionally shows the true speed for a second or so. The fuel guage also bounces all over the place. At the same time, cruise control, when enabled causes surging and sudden deceleration - needless to say it is unsafe and useless to use it now. AND.... while driving, it feels as if it suddenly misfires/shudders/studders for a second or two, then resumes normal running. Up until a couple of days ago, when the temps hit the 90's in my area, it was working ok for a vehicle with 168,000 miles on it.

Anybody have any suggestions - besides get a new vehicle? :smile:

I think your VSS (vehicle speed sensor ) is going bad.
