97 taurus ABS light off and on

Our ABS light comes on and off but the car is braking fine. Help

You need some one with a scanner capable of reading ABS codes to read the codes. Without a code number, it is a guessing game. More than likely it is a wheel sensor, but you have 4 of them.

My wifes 99 taurus would flash a "ABS check" light occassionally and I really never gave it much attention since the car would stop with ABS if I slammed on the brakes. After she heard a grinding noise when using the brakes, and I found the back brakes gone, I replaced the rotors and put new pads on it but I noticed the sensor areas for the ABS were just filthy and full of the metal shavings from the rotors and pads going bad. After cleaning it off with brake cleaner and getting all the shavings off, the light hasn't returned yet.
It could be somehing simple as mine was so it's best to just take a look and make sure there is nothing on them.
