Custom paint and decals. Hard to see, but there are ghost flames (paint) on the rear deck and sides... - Mark

Thanks. I have my share of Hot Wheels, but I bought them. I still have the real early ones I collected when they first came out, but I wasn't into collecting them when I worked for Mattel. I started collecting for a short while in 2000-2004, but mostly customized them. Now I don't care for a lot of what they are making so I stopped collecting again. But I still have a stash for customizing, and when they make something I like, I'll hack on it too.

This one is a Muscle Machines, pretty nice casting too. It's more accurate than the HW's casting shown above.
It even made it into this months issue of Model Cars Magazine, the contest issue... - Mark

I've been doing some hot wheels collecting for awhile, then had to get rid of a lot, and now I have started customizing them. I wish Mattel would go back to the 2000-2002 style line instead of the cartoonish stuff. I still go to my Wal-Mart though and browse through all of them.

Mark, you said it was a Muscle Machines? Wow, that really shocked me. I have not seen the Muscle Machines 37 Chevy, I have only seen the Hot Wheels version. The MM and the HW versions look extremely similar minus a few details. Do the makers of MM share designs with Mattel?

I think MM and HWs are fierce competitors. As I heard it, MMs were pitched to Mattel, and declined, after MMs took off on their own, HWs started making more catoonish stuff to compete. I don't think they have the right touch for them. And the wheels on the MMs are great. So, no they don't share.
There were four cars (I think) in the series that the '37 Chevy came from, there is also a 1st gen Camaro in it... - Mark

If you're asking how I painted the purple car, I used an airbrush and custom mixed colors...
If you're asking something else, I'm not sure what it is... - Mark
