flowmasters? hard on cats?

are flowmasters hard on cats? i put one one and its been on for about 6 months and i think the cat may be falling apart. when istart it up and i hit the gas you can here a slight rattle. i can hear its something inside and not out. its the orginal cat. is it age or the muffler?

Age. I've never heard of a muffler causing a cat to fail. Unless of course you ran over a Flowmaster on the freeway and it smacked the cat...

What you might be seeing is normal cat failure.

Especially if you ever had a bad CPI pouring fuel into it some time in its past.

how much louder do u think it would be if i pulled the cat off and put a pipe in instead of another cat? i know it wouldn't pass emissions but i got 2 years until then.

It will get louder, but no by much.

It will also sound a lot more raspier.

If you've got OBD2 you'll get a check engine light if you remove the cat. 95 is a borderline year for the OBD1 -> OBD2 switch and I'm not that familiar with when the Blazer might have switched. If it is OBD2 there's an O2 sensor before and after the cat to determine if the cat is working properly.

95 jimmy has an O2 sensor before and after the cat.

Don't remove the cat if you have one after the cat because it will throw a code.

You can get a high flow 2.25" cat on ebay for cheap and have it installed.
