Alright, geared for 89 to respond, but any input will do.
Are these the vortec heads with the 062 casting
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=427383&prmenbr=361
if not what about these world products heads
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=2441&prmenbr=361
Ok with one of these heads would this stroker kit work with them
http://shop.enginekits.com/osb.itemdetails.cfm?ID=341
if the kit works out, what cam should i get along with these parts?
What else am i missing? Better injectors (what type), throttle body (what type), can anyone tell me everything that i would need to complete this project the right way? I'm gonna start buying everything now and until i start the project, which is gonna be during the winter, and i'm gonna be pretty much getting all of my help from you guys on here so you can take credit when ever it finished. I'm willing to put the money into the motor, and i absolutely love the 305, that hunk of boat anchoring iron. Come guys and help me out here.

Well, I'll chime in with some basics.

Starting with the platform, the subframe, is it worth it and can handle the upgraded stress?

The cam and intake side is all going to depend on your compression ratio the stroker kit and cylinder heads will alter you to. You are talking allot of blueprinting here and crunching numbers. I also do believe you have to overbore the center intake manifold mount bolt holes in order to seal up the vortec heads.

Sorry man, you just can't throw a laundry list of parts under the hood and come out roaring, I wish it were that easy but it's not. Sometimes you can, but then you may not reap the fulll power of the combo, or sometimes you can't, and say throw a cam with too much lift in it and whammo.

Anyways, the guys at jegs and summit, I'm sure could get you started in the direction you're looking to go, accurately, and then the finishing parts could be recommended,

Or, and ultimately better in my eyes, to save you all the grief of the aforementioned. A master rebuild/stroker kit (I even think World offers one up?) that has everthing already figured out. Aside from fuel deivery and air intake cfm requirements.
Oh, and probably be cheaper too since you'll have all your gaskets and misc. parts.

Whatever became of your TES headers? Get em in yet?

u keep lookin at cast iron heads, i say lower ur heat and weight by gettin some alluminum heads... found some gm performance parts fast burn heads for ur application on summit (i prefer summit to jegs...) part number: NAL-12464298. along w/ that get some 1.6 ratio roller rockers like these: CRN-10758-16 or SUM-G6936-16. lower intake manifold and runners: EDL-3890. and u can get that cam i offered ya (check ur PM)

there really is no limit to what all u can upgrade... i just showed u a couple of things that i might go with if i were in you're shoes. i would recommend u look at accel for injectors (maybe 30lbs) and get a 52mm throttle body. also go to pcmforless.com to get it all tuned.

all i can say is do ur research, spend wisely and ask questions, like u are now. call and talk to the guys at summit they are a big help. see if u can find some other guys that have done some stuff to thier 305, and see how things turned out for them. don't take it too fast

Those heads are better than the 062 castings. When i say 062 casting i am referring to the production castings. The cylender heads have part numbers cast into the rocker vally. There are two versions that were in production, one ended in 062 the other ends in 908, the 062 castings are the desireable ones. The ones you are looking at from jegs have much larger ports and will flow more air. However a 305 does not have high air demands so you might be better off with a 170cc port vortec head design.

as far as all the ins and outs, weve been having alot of engine building questions lateley, so im going to do a very in depth post later tonight covering the basics. and then a second covering the more advanced stuff.

Believe me, i'm gonna take my time with this shit so i can get it all right. I'll get everything thing i need piece by piece over time, asking lots and lots of questions aswell, and when the time is right, assemble it. I'm not gonna just buy, plug n play, not knowing what situation that i may put myself into. Gotta takes things one day at time.

I was supposed to get them last pay period, (paid bi-weekly and it sucks) but my father was hospitalized and i had to pay the bills at home, so no headers. But this time, im getting then as soon as get into work, 7:00am on June 30, 2005. Waited long enough, shit. :smokin:

I hear ya on how funding goes.

Honestly, my best suggestion to you 'cuz your treading unfamiliar territory here, I would recommend a master kit to restore the motor to as close to original output. And, as stated, some of the kits allow some wiggle room for a little more excitement, BUT, without the cost of trying to huddle pieces together seperately and end up disapointed as all hell when things aren't right. If there's one thing about wroking on a budget it's spending a whole lot a money and not getting anything out of it.
