Wondering if anybody has used these Accelerometers? These in particular.... like? dislike? Anybody know if they have ever been tested against the the actual times at the track?

I don't have as much time as I would like to run the 'ol GTP but would love to get in some practice on the 60' times and see how she's doing now and then.

Thanx all!

Car and Driver did a big test on these in the last month or so. Im not at home so I don't know if that one was covered. they tested about 8 or 9 of them.

I wanted one for Father's Day but couldn't get any feedback as to whether it really works or how accurate. If you all find out let me know.:dunno:

I go to the dragstrip once or twice a month and I am curious to see how it compares against the track timer. Might come in handy.

Hey bnaylor,

Just curious, what kind of times (60' and 1/4 mile) do you get at the track? My GTP is modded very similar to yours and I am wondering what I might expect.

I haven't gotten much feedback on the accelerometers but if I find anything good, I'll let you know.

13.62 @ 102 mph
0 - 60: 2.09 sec

It was the best out of 3 runs in May 2005. I'll be working on the next phase of mods over the next year which will be a 72mm throttle body, headers, and 1.8 rockers.

Very cool. I have a couple buddies that are inflicted with the dreaded Ford desease. One has a '92 Mustang that is pretty heavily modded (I don't think I can beat him) and the other has a mostly stock '98 cobra conv. that he could only get 14.6 out of. I am thinking about getting the accelerometer just to practice when not at the track. Even if it's not totally accurate I can see if I am improving and develope better techniques.

Keep up the good work man! You car sounds great!

Thanks Chris. A modded GTP is a great sleeper when it comes to the competition like Mustangs. They're brainwashed about their cars and normally don't expect the surprise. I've taken out more than my fair share, especially the Cobras. Beat a 2001 SVT Cobra at the strip and numerous 97 - 98 models. I'd be real happy if I can get my ET to the low 13s but with reliability and consistency. The 4T65E-HD tranny is unpredictable but mine is holding up well so far.

If the accelerometer works as they claim its a good way to test the car and checkout mod results without the hassle of going to the dragstrip and paying the entrance fee. I believe you'll do just fine. Race safely and good luck!
