I'm looking at a '78 Mustang that has only 70,000 miles (because a previous owner kept it in the garage for years without driving it).
Can anyone tell me what I should check out on the car before purchasing it? Also, is there anything unique or any known problems with the 78 Mustang?

make sure the odometer is correct, in older cars the odometere only had 5 digits so it could have 170,00 or 970,00 and the guy could be lieing to you. also make sure you test drive it and put it under some good tests (fast acceleration and fast stoping ect...) also check out the vin to make sure the car is what the seller says it is.

It's poor in the performance area, VERY poor.

That's a yes and a no. They used the same 302 engine but it was so de-tuned from the 5.0 Foxs that it seems like a different engine. I'm sure you could find several of the parts would fit.
