93 Honda Accord overheat question

Hi All,

I wanted to post this question to get some ideas about my situation. About 6 months ago, I had a front oil seal leak. My mechanic replaced it. Also, he suggested while in there to replace the water pump and timing belt also, as they are pretty cheap compared to the labor to get in. I did.

Then about 3 weeks ago, I noticed an oil leak. My mechanic looked at it and told me the seal was leaking and that he'd repair it no charge. He told me the oil pan seal was leaking also and that needed to be replaced (291 bucks, because they had to remove the exhaust). I did it it last week.

3 Days ago, my radiator explodes and my engine overheats severely. I took it to a different mechanic (was out of town). He told me the head gasket is probably gone and likely the head was warped. He said it appeared to be severely overheated. He suggested a replacement engine as opposed to rebuilding. Cost 650 dollars, 6mos warranty.

Now, in talking to him, he suggested that my radiator may have exploded because of overheating due to the waterpump failing. NOW, if that's the case, I'm starting to get concerned that my other mechanic, in replacing the front seal the second time, might have screwed up something with the waterpump. Before I go accusing, I wanted to get some experienced advice on whether this is likely or not.

Thanks for anyone's input.

Ed
