2001.5 Passat question

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a 1.8 Liter 4-Cyl auto (tiptronic) 2001.5 Passat. I drove it and when accelerating from a standstill, the car seems to hesitate just a bit, or switch gears not so smoothly, as if it were a manual. Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or if they've experienced this?

got 2001-1/2 w/ a manual 6 cyl. no problems w/engine or shifting but the clutch has always been high.

Dont buy a vw if there are any signs of transmission problems... period
Unless you like spending 3-4000 on a new transmission.
