Around here, in rural Southern Ontario, the deer populations seem to get larger and larger. One of my greatest fears with riding down quiet rural highways in the early morning or at dusk is that some suicidal deer will dart out of the trees right in my way.
In a car, its not so bad. The car is damaged, but you'll (usually) live.
A bike...well center punching Bambi could ruin your life.
Up until 15-20 years ago, seeing deer was relatively rare. However, pretty much everyone comments that the deer sighings are much more common. My neighbours had both their brand new Ford Focus and Ford Taurus damaged by deer last year. The repair bills were $4500 and $5000 respectively.
So, anyone hit a deer (or kangaroo/wallaby, for that matter???)?

Ah yes, the famous Hamas Sucidal Deer. His only mission, to destroy the life of drivers everywhere. Nailed one in my car doing 80, 6k in repairs, so thats why when I get my bike, I doubt I'll be doing any night riding up at my country ass school durring deer season.

came very close this year with a wallaby. They don't tend to go to close to the populated areas. I'm currently living at the end of a 6km long dead end rural road and we have about 3 that we see quite often on our driveway early morn and late night.
early morn about 4:30 and a wallaby shoots out from my left and i nail the brakes and pass him on the left as he turned toward me. i think we both shit ourselves.
had heaps of rabbits go between the wheels!

Wow! That video was quite scary, and I'm glad the driver seemed to be alright. I hope that I never experience that on my bike........knock knock. I have already had to manuver around many many racoons, which is still quite scary to say the least, but a deer would be one of those "your life flashes before you eye's" moments.

My dad and I had a close encounter with a deer once.
I was riding on the back of my dad's Road King Classic one summer afternoon with one of his friends.
We were taking this windie road to whatever town we were trying to get to. My dad's friend was infront of us about... 20ft. or so.
We were going through a curve about 50mph. when i looked over to my left and saw this deer running straight outta the woods. I was just thinking, "we're going to die."
The deer sprinted across the road and jetted between the two bikes while we were going roughly 50mph!
It was by far one of the scariest moments of my life.
