New Clutch....

My car needs a new clutch, it's almost to the point where even a little bit of gas will make it slip. I went to the dealer and they want $800 for a OEM clutch installed. I went to a local trans shop and they said that the clutch alone was going to cost a little over $500. I found this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7982878411&fromMakeTrack=true) on ebay for less than the stock clutch. I want to see if I can get the dealership to install it. What do you guys out there think I should do?

if it was me....i would not buy that clutch. for the most part, performance parts and ebay do not go hand in hand. i would be a SPEC stage 1 or 2 clutch and have the local performance shop install it. the stealership will rip you a new one with the install charges. and the stealership might not install an aftermarket clutch

It looks like I might take your advice.....I found a stage 3 spec clutch for about $379. I looked at the difference between the stage 3 and 4, and the only difference was that one has quick engagement. It would be nice to race with, but is it really needed?

NO!!!! DO NOT GET THE STAGE 3 UNLESS YOU ARE GOING WITH TURBO/SUPERCHARGER!! the stage 3 and 4 have a very very very harsh engagement. there have been many 3Gs that have destroyed their stock differential b/c of the harsh engagement of the stage 3. thats why i recommend the stage 2 for the non-FI cars.

Well, at somepoint in time I will be putting a turbo charger on my eclipse, once I can find one, and find a place near me that will put it on. I'll go with your suggestion and buy the Stage 2 instead. I'm glad I posted here before I went and ordered that bad boy. I'm sure aftermarket differentials are a little expensive, aswell as not needed on my car for the time being.
Thanks for the great advice!
