Checked code and it shows 21 for ect. Check light not on just stored. Just wondering if these are a common failure (does have 178k miles and i would be supprised if they are not common to fail)
Has rough accelleration and misfires, also misfires at idle, but cel is not on or flashing. Was also wondering if a fuel filter clogged would cause
misfires like this..?

Well, I would not call it a common problem, but they do fail.
You have quite a few miles. It is VERY common with exploders to clean the idle air control valve for bad idle, clean the throttle body and mass air flow sensor for miss/ performance issues. Helps in quite a few cases, and the price is right - cheap.
After that, if problems persist, move on to other possibilities.

Yea cleaned the maf sensor and throttle body good and didnt help..
I am thinking coilpack and plugs mainly due to misfiring worse when raining out or wet out.

Well, the wet thing does seem to be a clue, tho I'd do wires and plugs before coil packs. BTW, lots of 4.0's in the junkyards, at least in my area (Colo.) - people roll em. Another coil pack source.
