98 contour

I have a 98 Ford Contour, 1st the blower/fan went out - still had high speed though, now the a/c and blower went out. No fan at any setting, but a/c did come on a few times before it went out completely. Please help a fat ol man from sweating thru a St. Louis summer. I have adequate freon, fan and a/c switches check out for continuity, have replaced the resisitor pack in the duct (nice and crispy) and I believe the compressor & a/c system are functional -- I think its an electrical problem. Really? In a German made Ford? Any suggestions? And no I don't have a cliff or a large body of water close by.
